The Limbazu Vestnesis wrote about Salacgriva as a resort:
of July 15, 1938: Indeed, in recent years the city has become ever more beautiful and pleasant; the residents welcome every innovation and new facilities with great responsiveness. The sandy roads of the both town sides located at either side of the river, are turned into the pleasant streets and the studies that were held on forest days still decorate the town.

In particular, each traveller is delighted by Salacgriva seaside with the white pilot tower and beautiful swim sites. The walking paths that wind behind the cemetery on the Ainazi side, which are similar to a wonderful park alley, are also very nice. Also Salaca banks are as a nice pedestrian street and are close to the town, just a few kilometres, each one can reach Svetciems manor where there is a national stud farm. Every traveller, who come here - and there have been quite a few in the recent years - will be pleasantly surprised seeing that the economic bustle reigns not only in big cities but also here, in the distant Latvian suburbs, where people sincerely develop their lives, creating their surroundings.

Let us all come at least once to Salacgriva and we shall see the beauty of the work and the surrounding.

The fact that not many people live here, has become the advantage of the resort of Northern Latvia. According to the article of May 15, 1936, Salacgriva seaside is the ideal place to rest for every lover of peace and quiet.

The article of July 31, 1936 in turn told the readers that … due to the weather the swimming and bathing on Salacgriva seaside has also almost ceased. There was a great number of people, who wanted to store some strength for the winter, on the beach when the weather was warm. All the free places in the dunes were full of people. Salacgriva beach has become popular with the lovers real rest and serenity. We hope that the hot weather returns and that there will be as many people willing to swim as there were before the weather changed.”

The management of the town did not always succeed in everything. For instance, the Limbazi Vestnesis of July 16, 1939 wrote that the town council lent the land on the mound to an individual and that there was a flourishing potato field. The mound becomes unattractive by a year. The town as well as its surroundings is visited by tourists and they are dissatisfied with the discrediting of the archaeological sites. Many tourists also pointed to the fact that they do not want to visit such places, until they are not brought to the state they used to be in.

According to the tourists about Salacgriva:

We entered Salacgriva at noon sharp. The town itself is not big but it is located in a romantic spot on both sides of the Salaca River right at its mouth. Salacgriva is famous for freshly smoked eels and lamprey, which is still warm, and has just been taken off the bars. These delicacies, which are not considered as such by the Salacgrivians themselves (the child of a baker finds pretzels bitter), we show the proper honour. On the beach of Salacgriva just on the beach of any resort you will find goods sirs and gentle ladies. The seaside also provides plenty of space to play volleyball, to run and swim in the sea with or without bathing suits – all the same as there are only few guests on the beach. Salacgriva has become very quiet especially this year as the sawing of timber for export and the rest of North Vidzeme transit through the port of Salacgriva has also ceased. The Salacgrivians are really kind-hearted and hospitable people, therefore we are surprised why those who seek a nice place to rest do not come to Salacgriva. It is a quiet, serene and beautiful seaside and it provides everything that is necessary for a perfect rest. “A”.

There are no such natural healing resources as mud and mineral springs here in Salacgriva. It is possible therefore that here are no ancient traditions of a resort town as there are in Riga and Jurmala. However, in 2009 Salacgriva joined the association of resort towns that was established in 2008. Salacgriva works side by side with such towns as Jurmala, Sigulda, Saulkrasti and Ogre.
