A log driving region that comprised the Salaca River, a roadstead, the Seda River and Burtnieku Lake. The first supervisor of the log driving region was Janis Leppe, who was neither able to read nor write, however, he was highly professional in log driving.
When the Latvian floating office was established in 1956, the Salaca district was merged with Riga mechanized station.
Log driving down the Salaca was ceased in 1964.
