From the memories of Arnis Darzins … “… when the war was over, in 1945 the culture life was resumed. In June the play Bear by A. Chehov was staged, after that The Marriage. The actors played with no decorations, no curtain. If an actor had to climb down from the one part of the stage and then climb up from the other, that actor jumped out of the window went around the building and entered anew. The fishermen gave two pieces of the net that was put onto a wire and used as a curtain. Two men each from his side opened and closed the curtain. Later the local inhabitants were invited to support the renewal works of the theatre. Bedsheets and other pieces of fabric were brought to the theatre. They were used to make a curtain and different decorations.“
