The traditions of the beginning of the choirs here can be dated back to 1927-1928, when the Svetciems Agriculture Society Choir was founded. The conductor of the choir was Viktorija Bilzena – the first woman-conductor in the history of the Latvian choirs.
Victoria was born at the house Eglites in Svetciems District. She attended Salacgriva Parish school from 1906 to 1908. Then she continued her education in Limbazi and in St. Petersburg. From 1920 to 1923 she studied at London Royal College of Music which she graduated with the qualification – the piano teacher. Two years after she returned back to her fatherland (1927) she became a conductor of the Svetciems Agriculture Society Choir. Under her leadership, the choir went through the years of war when it resumed its activity and continued to exist until the year of 1961. The last performance of the choir was in the bay of Kuikule in the summer of 1961.
On July 5 1931, the first Ainazi Song Day was organized in Ainazi town.
In the summer of 1939 the choir of Rangers was established in Salacgriva. There were approximately 50 singers. The leader of the choir was Hermanis Eidemanis – the supervisor of the school.
