According to the chronicles of Salacgriva Primary School written down by the longstanding supervisor of the school Hugo Grasis stated that the building of the school under number 5 was built as an orthodox school of Vecsalaca parish in 1876-1877. The school itself though started its work in 1873 and worked until the First World War in 1914. The first teachers – the priest Dubrovins, Psalter masters Peteris Sidals and Janis Parups. From 1923 to 1934 the parish rented the premises first to the needs of Salacgriva settlement later to the needs of the school of the district. The school was for the grades 5 and 6. The building was also used for the needs of the school from 1944 to 1963.
According to the chronicles of Salacgriva Primary School of 1937 we learn that the house at No. 7 was built as an apartment house for the needs of the officers of frontier guards. It was known under the name of Cordon. The frontier guards guarded the border and the forest. The building was built using the funds of the state but the materials were provided by the estate of baron Fegezak in Svetciems. The building was used for the needs of the school starting with 1920. In 1921 the settlement of Salacgriva took the building to its balance from the State Land Register. From 1921 to 1934 the building was used for the needs of a primary school 1-4 grades but in 1934 after the gymnasium was abolished, it was used for the needs of 1-2 grades. The school existed here up to 1951. After that it was reconstructed to be an apartment house. In 1970 the building was reconstructed and the second floor was built.
