In October of 1940, in the hunting palace Stilfrida of the baron Vegesak of Lani a four-year school was opened. The school became a seven-year-school in 1944 and in 1962 it became an eight-year-primary-school.
From the album The history of Lanu Primary School

Baron Vegesak repatriated to Germany and leased the buildings of the manor to the Executive Committee for RUB 1 per year with an intention to keep the rights for the property here in Latvia.
